What is an athletic trainer?
An athletic trainer (AT) is a certified and licensed healthcare professional who specializes in the care and prevention of sports-related injuries. Athletic trainers work with student-athletes to:
- Prevent injuries through proper training and conditioning
- Provide immediate care in case of injury
- Help with rehabilitation and safe return to play
- Educate athletes on health, nutrition, and proper techniques
Athletic trainers are often the first responders when an injury happens on the field or court. They work closely with coaches, school nurses, and doctors to support the overall health and performance of athletes.
